I just love these beautiful Russian Wolfhounds or Borzoi. They are so elegant and regal. My grandson and I met one at the dog show. The Borzoi have such a sweet personality. This is Jasha who belongs to a new Facebook friend Zoi, a woman who shares my interest in dogs and art.

This past summer I was fortunate to attend a workshop with Colley Whisson at the Landgrove Inn in Landgrove, VT. Colley is an Australian artist
and an outstanding teacher.
He really resonated with me and although I could not fully execute what I had learned, I had a good road map to work from. He taught us the way his father had taught him, walking us through the stages of each painting. He was also very generous with his help pulling our work together in the end. Looking forward to painting with Colley again!

You are never too old to learn new tricks. The palette knife painting workshop with Leslie Saeta was an excellent experience. I have used the palette knife in a very limited way in the past but it will be a more regular tool for me in the future. Thanks Leslie!

It's September, time for thirty paintings in thirty days again! This year I've taken a different approach. Instead of asking friends to send me their pictures, I met and photographed each dog myself. Some dogs were more cooperative than others but I like the mixed bag of poses and expressions I ended up with. Everyone I spoke with was so nice to allow me to photograph their dogs, thank you all for agreeing to be part of this project!

I'm having fun experimenting with the techniques I learned at a three-day workshop with Dreama Tolle Perry.

Using transparent oils as the base of a painting really makes the final colors pop. And painting with Dreama was such a treat, she is just lovely.
